The
Board of Directors of the Little Rock School District held a special session at
6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2003, in the Boardroom of the Administration
Building,
810 West Markham Street, Little Rock, Arkansas. President Judy Magness presided.

I. CALL TO ORDER
President Judy Magness called the
special meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and stipulated a quorum without roll
call. All members of the Board were
present.
II. PURPOSE
OF THE MEETING
The meeting was called for the purpose of discussing the possibility of
hiring an Interim Superintendent for the LRSD.
III. ACTION:
Mr. Rose made a motion to convene an executive
session for the purpose of discussing personnel issues and to interview Dr.
Morris Holmes. Dr. Mitchell seconded
the motion, and it carried unanimously.
The Board returned from executive session at 8:40
p.m. Mr. Kurrus moved to offer the
position of interim superintendent for one year to Dr. Morris Holmes. Dr. Mitchell seconded the motion, and it carried
unanimously.
Ms. Magness reported that Dr. Holmes had agreed to accept the position, pending the negotiation of details including salary and benefits. She noted that Dr. Holmes is highly regarded in the community, has a fine reputation of excellent “people skills” and management abilities.
IV. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business before the Board,
the meeting adjourned at
8:50 p.m. on a motion by Mr. Berkley, seconded by Ms. Strickland.
